We are down to the last four players at Flushing Meadows in what has been a fantastic but at times strange US Open Tennis Championships.

We have a contest here almost nobody will have expected when Daniil Medvedev takes on Grigor Dimitrov, the action will start at around 7pm Eastern time.

Moneyline

This isn’t the match anybody expected and most fans will be extremely disappointed to not be watching Roger Federer here as he was scheduled to be playing before being knocked out.

Russian star Daniil Medvedev has had the finest week of his tennis career and is now on the verge of a historic first grand slam final.

He arrives here having defeated some decent opposition on the way to the final but showed his true quality when he produced his best performance of the tournament on Tuesday when he defeated Stan Wawrinka.

Having won the first set on a close tie break he totally dominated the second and looked to be cruising before the Swiss number two hit back in the third, he then completely took control in the fourth, winning 6-1 and breaking the serve of his opponent on two occasions.

If any doubts existed about his ability to produce his best when under the spotlight the question was answered with that performance.

Grigor DimitrovBulgarian Grigor Dimitrov is finally back to some of his best form and this will be the best chance he will ever have in his career to win a major slam title. It’s been a fantastic week for him and he’s only dropped four sets all week, three of them against Roger Federer.

He beat Alex De Minaur over the weekend and caused a huge shock on Tuesday when managing to knock out Swiss legend in the last eight.

He played extremely well in that match but questions marks do remain over just how fit his opponent was as Federer appeared to be struggling throughout the match and needed a medical timeout towards the end.

Set Betting

Games Handicap

The head to head between these two players is tied at one match apiece, in the last meeting in Washington the Russian player won in straight sets on the hard courts and the time before that on the grass Grigor Dimitrov won.

Daniil Medvedev has been tremendous all tournament and he comes into this match as the favorite to reach his first slam final, he’s produced some outstanding tennis from the back of the court and if the Bulgarian isn’t on top form he will struggle.

Dimitrov will have to hold serve well and take the few opportunities he will get.

Our Pick

Daniil Medvedev to win the match pays -170 with Fanduel

The Russian player has finally entered the big time and we fully expect him to advance to the final.

Dimitrov has been excellent but his victory over Roger Federer did come with his opponent looking like he was carrying an injury, and Medvedev has been consistent, beating some quality opposition to arrive here.

He breaks serve with ease at times and should be backed to win this match.
