Another American player in action over the weekend is the ever-entertaining Tennys Sandgren as he continues his resurgence.

He has another extremely tricky match though if he wants to continue his run at Flushing Meadows as he collides with the durable baseliner Diego Schwartzman. The match will be on Saturday and the day of tennis will get underway at around noon eastern time.

The winner of this match will in all likelihood take on Alexander Zverev in the next round and the way the young German player is performing both of these competitors will see that as a fantastic opportunity to cause a big upset.

The Argentinian player is usually more at home on the clay courts of Europe and South America but seems to have taken very kindly to the American hard courts this year.

He must be playing the best tennis of his career at the moment and has flown through the opening two rounds without dropping a set and not even looking like he has had to break a sweat.

Set Betting

Robin Haase was demolished in the first match he played and yesterday he defeated Egor Gerasimov again very easily, only losing six games in the whole match.

The hard courts have been claimed to be quicker than previous years but that hasn’t stopped some of the backcourt players achieving some excellent early results.

Tennys Sandgren has had an interesting few weeks on the tennis courts that have seen highs of victories over Andy Murray and also some terrible losses to players who are ranked lower than him.

Tennys SandgrenHe started his US Open campaign with a fantastic victory on Tuesday night when he defeated Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and he went one better with another win on Thursday evening over Vasek Pospisil in four sets.

One thing he can count on is the support of the American crowd, he is one of the popular players at Flushing Meadows among the home faithful and they will get behind him from start to finish, whether that will be enough we don’t know but it won’t be for lack of effort.

This will be a match mainly played on the baseline and we should see more breakpoints than we usually get, whoever wins this will probably be the player that manages to win more of his points on the second serve.

The Head to Head record between the two players is irrelevant to this match as they have never met before, it’s a great contrast of styles though and should be a really interesting contest.

Our Pick

Tennys Sandgren to win the match pays +186 with Fanduel

We’ve seen a lot of Tennys Sandgren recently and just when we always assume he is ready to depart a tournament he seems to produce his best tennis.

Diego Schwartzman has been perfect so far this tournament but he has been playing a lower quality of opponent that the American, take Sandgren to win another match and advance to the second week of the US Open.
