The Quarter Finals of the ATP Winston Salem tennis championship are here and we have American representation under the lights this evening.

Young starlet Frances Tiafoe will take on the big-serving European Hubert Hurkacz in what should be an absorbing contest, the match will start at approximately 8.30pm Eastern.

Match Winner

Francis Tiafoe may be finally starting to reach his potential in the sport after a couple of years of hope and expectation from the pundits who have followed him since winning the USTA Junior Championships. He has already won a title at Delray Beach but this is a tournament of a higher standard and win here would raise eyebrows.

He has had a good run here already and has barely broken a sweat as the two opponents he has defeated have both had to retire with injuries early on the match.

Jeremy Chardy could only manage six games before leaving the court and last night Filip Krajinovic decided to call it a day at the end of the first set. In both matches, Tiafoe was comfortably ahead and crucially was breaking serve at will, one of the strongest aspects of his game.

Set Betting

Game Handicap

He has long been talked about as a top prospect on the tour and this could be the week where he makes his long-awaited breakthrough.

Not many fans know too much about Hubert Hurkacz but he is a talented competitor and does have a couple of challenger court titles to his name. He serves extremely well but can struggle when getting into rallies at the back of the court.

No one expected the Polish player to do much here this week but with a wide-open draw, both of these two will be looking for a chance at winning an ATP tour title and receiving a huge boost before we go to Flushing Meadows next week.

Hubert Hurkacz

He arrives here after a victory over Korean player Duck Lee and last night played extremely well to defeat Feliciano Lopez, he was a set and a break up before the Spanish player decided to retire after struggling with an injury and having one eye on the US Open next week.

Tiafoe leads the H2H between the two players by a 2-0 scoreline and that should give him a lot of confidence coming into this match, both of those matches were on the hard courts and the American has dominated them comfortably.

He won the match 3-1 in the ATP Next Gen finals and also recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory in Washington last year.

Our Pick

Frances Tiafoe to win the match pays out at +100 with Fanduel.

This should be a terrific match and with recent form and the H2H record, we have to go with the American player at what looks like an excellent price.

Tiafoe should be able to create more break point opportunities with his back of the court game and will have the crowd on his side, take him to advance to the last four over a willing opponent.
