Cincinnati Masters Tennis

We are heading towards the business end of the ATP Cincinnati Masters and the main event this evening on Centre Court sees World number one Novak Djokovic facing a tricky challenge against the in-form Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, the match is set to get underway at 7pm Eastern.

Match Winner

The Serbian is the defending champion here and most pundits fully expect him to walk away with the trophy again this year, his chances only increase with Rafael Nadal deciding not to play having won the Canadian Open last week.

Crucially for his supporters, he didn’t look too rusty when taking to the court yesterday, this is the first tournament he has played since winning Wimbledon last month and as always he comes to America expecting to dominant on the hard courts that suit his game so well.

His suitability on these courts was shown yet again as he defeated Sam Querrey last night with a performance that was brutal towards the end, he broke the serve of the American player twice after a close-fought opener to come through in straight sets in what was always going to be a testing opening match.

Set Betting

Game Handicap

Few expect Pablo Carreno Busta to make much of a game of this but he has been showing some of his best form for years recently and has already knocked out some players higher in the rankings than he is, he started the qualifying process on Saturday and having won four consecutive matches now finds himself on center court this evening.

He will be delighted with a later start today after coming through an extremely long match against John Isner yesterday in which two of the three sets went the full distance before he got a crucial break in the deciding tie break to seal his place here.

The main positives from that performance were that he didn’t lose his serve and he’ll need to do that extremely well here when he faces the best return player on the tour, if he can he won’t be short of practice in crucial situations.

Our Pick

Pablo Carreno Busta to win the game spread (+5.5 games) at +112 with Fanduel.

Novak Djokovic will most probably win this match but it could be closer than the spread here given at Fanduel, at times the Serbian did struggle to break the serve of Sam Querrey in the opener yesterday and was forced to take the first set on a tie break, with the Spanish player serving as well as he has recently he should have enough to keep this close.
