An exciting US Open Tennis Championships continues as we head towards the third round over the upcoming weekend and crowd favorite Roger Federer hits the courts early on Friday.

Moneyline

The Swiss hasn't reached his best form yet but will look to step up a gear as he faces off against British player Dan Evans, the match gets underway at about midday eastern.

Roger Federer is here again for an incredible twentieth appearance at Flushing Meadows and as he winds down his career he would absolutely love to grab a sixth title to add to his record.

He will have found it hard over the last couple of months to recover from Wimbledon, he made it to the final before losing after having two match points in his contest against Novak Djokovic and the hurt of that surely won’t heal until he wins another slam.

He’s clearly not at his best and to say he has been a slow starter this tournament would be an understatement, in his first two matches against Sumit Nagal and Damir Dzumhur he has dropped the opening set before going onto win comfortably, it’s now time for him to step up his game.

Dan Evans

Daniel Evans is back and enjoying himself on the tour after recent problems that have included drug bans and injuries.

He surprised everyone before this tournament by announcing he had split with coach David Felgate a few days after losing in the first round of the ATP event in Washington, before that he had enjoyed an excellent grass-court season, culminating in a third-round defeat at Wimbledon.

Game Handicap

He’s had plenty of recent match practice and comes into this contest having played well to defeat Adrian Mannarino and Lucas Pouille, both in four sets, he did suffer a poor defeat to Steve Johnson at Winston Salem but appears to have recovered from that

The Swiss player leads the head to head by a 2-0 scoreline and so far he hasn’t dropped a set against the British player, one match came on a hard court and one on grass, both were Grand Slam events so it does look like Federer has the number of his opponent.

This looks a huge uphill task for Evans and he’ll have to play the game of his life to win, he doesn’t do anything better than Federer at the net or at the back of the court and he’ll need a big off day from him to be competitive.

Our Pick

Roger Federer to win the match 3-1 pays out at +265 with Pointsbet

We fully expect Roger Federer to win this match and advance to the next round but there is little value in him doing so in straight sets given his results so far.

Dan Evans is playing some fairly solid tennis and at this point in time that might be enough to cause some problems for the Swiss player, take the favorite to advance but to drop a set in doing so.
