The Quarter Finals of the US Open begin on Tuesday and we have some matches that the crowd will be getting right into as the most popular player on the tour, Roger Federer, will take on the big-serving Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.

The day’s actions starts at 2pm Eastern with the night session following afterward.

The draw has massively opened up with Novak Djokovic having to retire on Sunday night when losing to Stan Wawrinka and now the bookmakers think the likely winner of this year’s event at Flushing Meadows will either be the man playing here or his Spanish counterpart, Rafael Nadal.

This also removes a huge mental block for the Swiss player in trying to win here as no one has given him more problems at the end of these events than the Serbian has over the last few years.

Roger Federer looks right back to his best in this tournament after a tricky start and in his last couple of matches, he has been absolutely brilliant.

He followed up the straight-sets victory over Dan Evans will a demolition of David Goffin on Sunday evening, only dropping four games in the whole match and wasting no time or energy in advancing.

Well rested, on form and with a nice route to the final, this must be the best chance of adding another major to his incredible tally he will get and extending his legacy and lead over his two main rivals.

Grigor Dimitrov

Grigor Dimitrov has a terrible record against his opponent here and will have to play the match of his life if he is going to win against him at the US Open, he has played some good tennis though this week and comes here having beaten some decent opposition.

Andreas Seppi always poses problems and he was despatched in four sets and he also had the added bonus of a withdrawal when Borna Coric wasn’t fit enough to take to the court.

Young Australian star Alex De Minaur was a match most expected him to lose but he turned in a top-class performance to win in straight sets with a level of consistency that has been so often missing in recent years.

The Swiss player is perfect on the head to head matchup with a 7-0 lead and in those seven matches, he has only dropped two sets to the Bulgarian in all of those contests combined.

Roger Federer knows how to beat Dimitrov and providing he doesn’t suffer a severe loss in form he should comfortably advance to the semi-finals, he does everything better than the Bulgarian and clearly holds a huge mental edge.

Our Pick

Roger Federer to win the match 3-0 pays out at -120 with Fanduel.

If Roger Federer wanted a confidence boost before this match he has got the biggest one possible with Novak Djokovic departing the tournament and now leaving the draw wide open for everybody else.

Looking at the H2H this looks the perfect match up for the Swiss player and with him back at his very best he should be able to cruise through to the last four in straight sets.
