We are getting into the latter stages of the ATP Winston Salem tennis tournament as we continue the build-up to the US Open this weekend.

Match Winner

Today we have a fantastic contest this evening between two in-form players who both have a genuine shot at winning the title here, the match will start at approximately 8.30pm Eastern when Sam Querrey and Andrey Rublev take to the court.

Sam Querrey is one of the most popular players on the tour and one the American public can really rally behind, he will have a lot of support here and his fans will be hoping he can have a good run this week before he has another tilt at Flushing Meadows next week.

Cincinnati wasn’t a good tournament for him although he had a terrible draw having been put up against Novak Djokovic in the second round and whilst was competitive for a set in that one it was never really a match he could win and he wilted away in the heat when going down to a straight-sets defeat.

He came through a tough match yesterday but did win in straight sets when facing Roberto Cabelles Buena, grabbing the decisive break in the last game of the match whilst also serving impressively throughout holding his serve.

Andrey Rublev is a player who often flatters to deceive but has been playing some fairly decent tennis of late and can’t be ruled out here.

Game Handicap

Set Betting

He pulled off one of the shocks of the season last week when defeating Roger Federer in Cincinnati and although the Swiss player was clearly below par, any victory over him has to be seriously respected.

Rublev defeats FedererThe Russian has come through two matches so far this week, defeating Albert Ramos Vinolas and Thomas Fabbiano and must be high on confidence given his recent exploits.

The H2H between these two on the ATP tour is 1-0 to the American and Querrey cruised through that contest at Wimbledon earlier this year, he won in straight sets and broke the serve of his opponent in all three..

Rublev will try to extend rallies in this match and keep the points as long as possible, the American does struggle when getting into a stamina battle and he’ll try to counter that with his serve and volley game.

The key could be the first serve of Querrey, if he can hit a high percentage he’ll be tough to break and his opponent will know he needs to capitalize on any opportunities given after that.

Our Pick

Andrey Rublev to win the match pays +110 with Fanduel.

A close matchup is in store here and we should expect at least a set of this match to go to a tie-breaker.

Sam Querrey looked good yesterday but we have to give the call to Rublev on the basis of recent form as he’s beaten some talented opposition, he’s played two matches here, looked in decent touch and we’ll go with him tonight to see off the American player.
