The matches at Flushing Meadows keep coming and we have a bumper schedule today after some rain delays in New York yesterday.

At around 6pm Eastern today we have another exciting match to look forward to as Tennys Sandgren faces off against Vasek Pospisil.

His fans have been quite excited by Tennys Sandgren’s performances of late and he seems to have acquired a never say attitude over recent months on the tennis courts.

Money Line

He opened up here with a fantastic victory on Tuesday night when he defeated Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in a long battle, he won in the deciding set and the performance was even more impressive given he was two sets down and looked finished going into the third set.

He’s had some good results of late, none better than beating Andy Murray at Winston Salem and he should be high on confidence after coming through tough matches against top players.

Before that his start on the hardcourt season was a disaster, early-season he lost his first four matches and couldn’t even take a set off opponents like Bublik and Daniel and the turnaround from that has been magnificent.

The American is playing some good tennis now though and a run to the second week is looking possible.

Vasek Pospisil is a regular on the challenger tour and very rarely makes the headlines in a way he has been doing at the US Open this year.

He’s always been a talented player and he showed that when caused an upset in the first round, winning a match he wasn’t really expected to be competitive in, coming through against the stylish Russian player Karen Khachanov after winning the deciding set.

The last month has been up and down and whilst running very good players like Chung and Escobedo in the latter stages of some events he hasn’t managed to get over the line.

He played well in Cincinnati going down in a tight match to young starlet Felix Auger Aliassime.

The Canadian leads the head to head by 2-0 scoreline, he won comfortably on the hard courts of Beijing last year and also won the previous meeting between them, albeit that was ten years ago in a futures events in America.

The serve will be key to winning this match and breaks will be at a premium as both of them aren’t great returners, tie breaks will be key and whoever wins more of those will probably be the player who wins the match and advances to the next round.

Our Pick

Vasek Pospisil to win the match pays out at +145 with Fanduel.

This looks a match that is very tough to call as we have little to separate the players when you look at the records on paper.

The Canadian has the better of the H2H but Sandgren is probably playing the better tennis at this point in time, with the odds on offer the value bet has to be to take Vasek Pospisil to win the contest.
