WGC-St Jude Invitational Odds and Picks

It's a complete change of scenery this week for the top players in golf as they switch from windswept Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland to hot and sticky Memphis, Tennessee for the newly named WGC event.

TPC Southwind Hole 14

Almost all of golf's elite will make the journey - Tiger Woods excepted - and it promises to be a shootout in the heat, with much easier and predictable conditions than last week. Even Shane Lowry is slated to play, which to be honest we can't see happening. There is no cut and the field is just 64 players.

Top Contenders

Dustin Johnson

After a T51 in The Open, in which he never figured to win, DJ looked a little off. He has two wins at this course (in 2012 and 2018) so it's a juggling act of whether you prefer to rate course form or current form. If he can recapture his tee to green form, he'll probably contend.

Brooks Koepka

He puts everything into majors, and that shows in his results. He could well have contended for the win last week if the putter was hot, but on Sunday he missed a ton of 8-15 footers that you normally see him make on a major Sunday. It's possible he'll be on a downer here and we think there are better odds plays around.

Rory McIlroy

What an amazing two days for the Northern Irishman at Portrush. He followed a dreadful 79 with a near-miracle comeback 65 to miss the cut by a single stroke. It's possible that will have taken a lot out of him, but from tee to green he's the best in the World right now. That stat points to winners at this course; he could well be the one to beat.

Tommy Fleetwood

No previous course form for the Englishman, who will be drained after going close at The Open. He didn't really push Lowry in a two-horse race last week, but he's still playing well. Again, good from tee to green, so has a great chance.

Phil Mickelson

Has finished top-12 in each of his last six starts at the course, and understandably loves it here; "I think that this TPC Southwind is one of our best courses we have.”

Our Picks

He has such a good record at the course that we'll take massive odds on Phil Mickelson Top 10 at +600 with DraftKings.

DJ is just too short for our liking, but Rory's game fits the course perfectly, and at +900 in a field of 64, it almost looks like good value. Take +900 on McIlroy.

Jordan Spieth played well at the Open last week and is a decent price. Take the +3300 at DraftKings.
